Veronica Jorden – The Book Baker
Hi, writer friend, I’m so glad you’re here. If you’ve found me, that means you have a story you’ve just got to tell. And there are few things I love more than a chance to help other writers make their story as good as it possibly can be.
Like most writers, I have had a life-long love of reading. Growing up a military brat, there were few constants in my childhood. But no matter where we lived, I was never without a collection of books. And I didn’t just read those books, I got lost in them. I could see every character. I experienced the conflict. And I could see every scene play out in my mind as if it was a movie playing out in full Technicolor brilliance. This complete and total adoration of storytelling led me to embrace the craft of writing. And somewhere along the way, I discovered a talent and a passion for helping other writers craft their own stories.
My freelance editing work began in 2013 and since then, I’ve worked with dozens of professional authors across multiple genres. My clients include both traditionally and independently published authors and writers of varying skill levels
I completed a Bachelor of Arts in English in Creative Writing in 2016 and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing in the summer of 2020.
My Feedback Philosophy
My mission as an editor is to nurture the creative spirit of every writer I work with. I promise to give you honest, constructive, supportive, and actionable feedback.
Writing’s a lot like cooking. Sometimes the cake won’t rise, no matter what you do, and every now and again the cake tastes better than you ever could have dreamed it would.
The developmental report contained useful feedback, especially on the weak points of my story. It gave easy to follow examples and suggestions on how to fix the issues. Veronica’s developmental analysis was what I needed to enable me to do a final rewrite. I will keep her in mind given future projects. I recommend Veronica to any author who needs an in-depth analysis of their story and the way forward.
Veronica Jorden is amazing. I had no idea where to go or what to do with my first novel and she right away helped me. She gave me great constructive feedback in such a timely manner. The best part was that, unlike other readers, she gave exact examples of what she was referring to instead of being vague. She was the only reader/editor I could rely on. And will rely on in the future. It improved my writing so much. And I will recommend her anytime, anywhere.
